It has been shown to be essential for members of business families to have what is known as “ownership competence”. Ownership competence encompasses the skills and abilities of the shareholders to exercise their ownership function and their rights and obligations.

Wouldn’t it be better if shareholders stayed out of the company’s affairs? What if I, as a shareholder, do not want to get involved? This may seem tempting, and of course, nobody can be forced.
